Washroom is a term used for bathing area. It is also a synonym for a toilet and washroom combined. In the ancient period, washrooms were never not allowed in the building premises. They were considered unhygienic in the building and were constructed outside the building but in the same premises. The main reason of not having or keeping it inside the house premises was ‘CONTAMINATION’. Toilet is one of areas that adds contamination to the air and makes it polluted and unhealthy. It does not only add contamination but also adds negative energies to the environment.
External toilets – In the Vedic civilization people constructed toilet outside the building but in the land premises. Such a toilet was not too far in companion to fields and had four sided ventilation, light and privacy.
Common toilets– After few years, the trend changed common toilet were introduced and constructed inside the building. Almost every building had a separate toilet block which was common for all rooms. Such common toilets were even closer and added more convenience.
Attached Toilet: – Now the trends have again changed. Toilets are constructed close to the bedroom to reduce the legwork. Such attached toilets generally do not facilitate perfect ventilation & light.
Washroom should ideally be located in northwest or west of the building as the rays of the setting sun are competent energy to kill bacteria.
- Average sound level in the living room should be less than 60 decibels.
- The ventilation level should be adequate. A feeling of freshness should always be there.
- A living room should not permit light with glare.
- The room should be connected to the nature.
- The room should not suffer from electromagnetic congestion, geopathic stress and environmental aggression.
- The height of the room should be minimum 8 feet.
- The indoor air should not have organic or inorganic contaminants.
The living room should be preferably located in the eastern belt of the house. It can be east, northeast east or southeast east. It can also be placed in northeast north or north of the building. It should be borne in mind that it should be placed in such a manner that it does not attract glare. It must also ensure proper light and ventilation. The living room should be in front portion of the house directly accessible from the entrance lobby or outside. It is preferred if it is placed in north ,north east, east of the building. The guests should not pass through the personal areas like bedroom to living room.
